I’m trying to use system and it says no base unit available make sure the Cab3 has permission to connect to local Internet. No offense, but I got mad and when I was trying to fix the issue, I ended up breaking the stupid antenna I emailed Lionel and told them that their system is not compatible with my Internet and I have to go downtown to my storage facility and get the one remote that it will connect to which is my cab-1L remote

My only remaining problem is not being able to hook up to home internet.

Hey Sean! Nice Part 2 of the Cab3! I believe MTH is going to really challenge Lionel’s Base3 with their new WTIU, Which I believe will arrive by the end of summer.

Wow!! Very nicely done, and you confirmed for me some of the problems that I thought were “my problems.” Really aren’t! Picked up a few tips along the way as well. I started with part 2 since I’ve already got Base 3 connected, but think I’ll actually go back and watch part 1, since there are likely some “little tidbits” that can pick up there as well. Just wanted you to know that your time investment is greatly appreciated!

You should do a video on using this with a ser2 and DCS system an how they work

If you use a SER2 interface can you pull up a MTH DCS engine using the Lionel system or do you need to have a Mth Wi-Fi box for the TIU

I also have the same bug on my Lionel Bluetooth app where the slider mysteriously goes back to "0" on the second engine. That's irritating. Thanks for reporting that bug to Lionel! Keep up the great work you are doing and I will follow your channel to stay updated on Lionel's fixes for both the Bluetooth and Cab3 apps.

Great run down! I just got my base 3 and have my second legacy engine coming sometime in the fall. I need to figure out how to lash my 2 legacy engines up using the cab 3 app sometime!

How do you change the bell and whistle 5 pitch sounds in cab 3 tab? Thanks for doing this tutorial Sean. Has helped me a lot.

My Base 3 works with the phone app and the from switch in the AP position but can't connect to my Wi-Fi because my router doesn't have a WPS button.

The ID goes back to 0000 when you go to the # page, because it's ready for you to type in an ID #. It goes back to the previous # if you don't type a new ID # in

Amazing tutorial, I am one of the few out there that has never had a legacy setup so I have been muddling along with an old school cab 1 and the Bluetooth app for a couple years now. I can’t thank you enough for taking the time to do this, it helped me get through every aspect of it.

Sean question if I have more than one track dose the communication wire all go to the same port on the base three

What value resistor did you use for the led strips, both the 3 led strip and the 9 led strips?

Sean, once again I want to take the time to thank you for this informative video. I think a lot of learning is to just experiment with the app. Learn by doing is how I do it. You gave some great pointers about the apps capabilities that I would not have known. I still undecided if I will use the cab 2 remote or the app. Maybe both. We will see how it goes.

Great video Sean, very informative. So I may be jumping the gun but I’m having a difficult time figuring out how to control conventional/non Lionel engines. I have an old/newer. ZW running 3 180 bricks. Channels 2 & 3 work fine but I can’t get channel A ( variable voltage) to work. I even purchased a separate legacy power master… still nothing. I assume it’s in my programming sequence. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated 😊

Sean GREAT video - my MAIN question is on the CAB3 I have a roster now but how do I perform a lash up? Please do a video on how to do a lash up.

One of my pre-orders for the Trains coming at the end of this year is coming soon which is the Legacy M1 manifest middle division freight set. I can’t wait to set it up. It will be the first one. I set up on the base 3. I also pre-ordered the legacy Polar express train set along with seven add on cars

Great information Sean. I never had or used any of the cab systems so the buttons are foreign to me. I've been DCS for years. One thing I discovered is when selecting the momentum if you select the medium button and then press and hold it a slider pops up to select the amount of momentum. Only works on the middle button.

Now that you identified the design problem with the pickup, I wouldn't change the track. I'm guessing Lionel will correct this in the future.

One thing you didn't cover Sean is the use of the dialogs that come up when you swipe to the right. Also please cover using the CAB3 app to control the power output of a TMCC ZW. I can't get it to work with my ZW-L.

Excellent video! Just got my base 3...i am new/returning to the hobby and have only ever run conventional. This is a huge leap in tech. I am running a TMCC sd80mac (#7201) and Legacy BNSF ES44AC (#6111).

Sean, I have watched all of your videos about the various Lionel control systems over the years. You have been clear and methodical and a great help to a newbie like me. I only have two Legacy locos to date and plan to wait to purchase a Base 3 until the kinks get worked out. The Bluetooth side of the app does most of the Legacy features I care about. The main exception is that I can't run a consist powered by multiple locos.😢

Thanks for part 1 and 2. I was able to get the app connected to Base 3 and got my Legacy Big Boy added to the Base 3 side without using a Cab2. I could never have got up and running without your videos. Can you tell me please how to get to the feature that allows one to pick one of the five whistles on the most recent Legacy engines? I got to that feature on the BlueTooth side but it does not really work. I am guessing that there is a way on the Base3 side which should have all the Legacy features. Thanks Tom B

Sean, great video, as always! I've had my base 3 for a few days now and you taught me more than a few things that I didn't know about the app, thanks! Something I have been unable to find anywhere is how do you reprogram TMCC engines with the app? For example: pressing ENG, 1, SET then ENG, 1, AUX1, 4. Does not program the TMCC R2LC, but creates a new engine number 14.

Another great video, can you do a video on setting up accessories that will work thru the base3, ie: command switches, and also engine lash-ups.......🚂

I have an Orbi mesh network and it doesn’t have a labeled WPS, but it does have a sync button that I found severs as that function when setting up my Base 3.
